Storing Your Sauce: Simple Do’s and Don’ts for Flavor That Lasts

You've bought gourmet pepper sauce from UMO, and now you want to make sure every drop maintains its bold flavor.

Here are easy, effective ways to store and handle your sauce so it stays as fiery and flavorful as the day you opened it!

Temperature Control is Key

Store your unopened sauce in a cool, dark place like a pantry or cupboard.

Room temperature between 60-70°F (15-21°C) is ideal. Avoid areas near stoves, dishwashers, or sunny windows where temperature fluctuations can break down the sauce's flavor compounds.

Refrigeration After Opening

Once you've broken that seal, your gourmet pepper sauce should move to the refrigerator. The cold environment slows oxidation and preserves the vibrant flavors

Don't worry about the sauce thickening slightly in the cold – it will return to normal consistency at room temperature.

Light Protection

UV rays can degrade both flavor and color in pepper sauces. Keep the bottle in its original packaging or store it in a dark cabinet.

The Clean Spoon Rule

Always use a clean utensil when removing sauce from the bottle. Introducing bacteria or food particles can spoil your sauce prematurely.

If you're a frequent user, consider pouring what you need into a small dish rather than dipping directly into the bottle.

Proper Sealing

Ensure the cap is tightly sealed after each use. Air exposure leads to oxidation, which can dull flavors and change the sauce's color.

If the original cap becomes damaged, transfer the sauce to an airtight glass container.

Avoid Cross-Contamination

Never pour unused sauce back into the original bottle after it has been in contact with food. This introduces bacteria and moisture that can compromise the entire bottle.

Follow these steps and you'll enjoy the same incredible flavor from the first drop to the last.
